The union side submitted its pay claim in February 2020 for the Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC), the largest construction national agreement which primarily covers civil engineering and the biblical trades. Talks were due to begin soon after that date but they were delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since then the union side has been seeking agreement about when pay talks would occur.

This has been especially important as the annual pay date of the last Monday in June has passed.

Finally - after a great deal of lobbying from Unite - the employers’ side has agreed that pay talks will take place in September.

Unite will update members when the talks have concluded.
