Developments and decisions taken at an international level, often by multi-national companies, can have a serious impact on Unite and its members. Unite can no longer represent effectively the interests of its members, without being active on the international stage.
For this reason the Unite International department has built up strong relationships with trade unions around the globe both through union to union work and through our colleagues who are affiliated to the European and Global trade union federations.
These links have enabled us to successfully negotiate for our members with the global rather than with local management when necessary. In such cased, the support of local trade unions have always been decisive and thanks to years of collaboration we can count on them. International solidarity works.
