Unite has today reacted with at anger at 2 Sisters confirmation that they have not formally requested financial support from either the Welsh or UK Governments to save the plant, and the jobs of its 750-strong workforce. The company have further confirmed that they do not intend to look at selling the plant as a going concern.

Unite has been calling upon the company to explore every opportunity available to prevent the sites closure and the devastating economic impact it will bring to North West Wales.

Peter Hughes, Unite Wales Regional Secretary said: “It is both astonishing and disgraceful that 2 Sisters have failed to request financial support from the Welsh and UK Governments.  2 Sisters seem oblivious to the impact the closure of the plant will have on its workforce and the island of Anglesey itself”.

“2 Sisters are a profitable company with multiple sites across the UK, they have to act in a socially responsible way. Unite is demanding that they open their books, be completely transparent and work with us and Government to develop a rescue plan for the site”.
