Coventry bin strikes: Unite reaffirms members over politics position
- Tuesday 15 February 2022
Commenting on the strike by low paid Coventry bin drivers who are seeking an increase in their wages from the Labour council, Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said:
“Workers do not want a trade union that plays politics with their jobs, pay and conditions.
“They don’t want a general secretary who plays games and who chooses whether or not to defend members depending on who the employer is.
“They don’t want talk of a fanciful long game, played by people they never meet and who never ask their opinion.
“And, they don’t want their union to give money to people who attack them.
“None of this should be a surprise to anyone outside of the Westminster bubble.”
