The strike ballot of UNITE ambulance members in England is now closed.

Our members voted by up to 92% to strike.

Now more than 1,600 paramedics, emergency care assistants, emergency call workers and patient transport drivers at the West Midlands, North West and North East ambulance will take strike action on Wednesday 21 December 2022.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Re-balloting will take place at South East Coast Ambulance Service, South Central Ambulance Service, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and South Western Ambulance Service, after members voted by up to 90% to strike but narrowly missed the 50% threshold.

Taking strike action is never easy, and for members working in emergency services it’s even harder. They care passionately and so does Unite.

Our reps are in negotiations with their employers to provide life and limb cover. But the sad truth is patient’s lives are at risk now. Our NHS is on its knees. Staff are leaving in their droves because they can no longer afford to work in the NHS. Waiting lists are at record levels, building are crumbling. The blame for all this lies with the Conservative government’s 12 years of destructive pay cuts and cutbacks.
