National Chair: David Thomas (Yorkshire and Humberside
Region)
David is an Assistant Chief Officer in South
Yorkshire whose current role involves Information Services,
performance and quality. He is particularly interested in policy
development, both within the Association and NPS and is actively
involved in the recruitment and support of new members.
National Vice Chair: Alan Yelling (South West
Region)
Recently Alan was made redundant from his post of Area Accredited
Programmes Manager. He had previously managed various Teams
over a 20 year period including Courts, Supervision & Prisons
and was also a temporary Assistant Chief Officer for Effective
Practice. Alan is one of PMA’s trained Workplace
Representatives and supports members who find themselves in

Assistant Secretary: Charles Green
A PMA
member for over 8 years Charles has worked for the former Middlesex
and now London Service. Having previously managed an approved
hostel and two district offices he is currently based in North East
London where he manages the Resource Centre Team at
Leytonstone.

National Treasurer and Trade Union
Officer: Bob Appleby
Bob
continues to hold the office of Association Treasurer for a further
term. He took early retirement from the West Yorkshire Service in
2002. Bob is frequently called upon to advise, support and
represent members who find themselves in difficulties within the

Jacqueline Westrop (Eastern Region)
Jacqueline Westrop is currently the Drug Intervention Programme
Manger for Noroflk, her previous work in the probation service
includes community supervision and woking in prisons, Jacqueline
was Norfolk's first
MAPPA manager, and she has worked in the voluntary sector helping
that sector build its skills when working with public bodies such
as the Probation Service. Jacqueline has been a member of the
Probation Service for 24 years fourteen of them as a Senior
Probation Officer, the last elevan years with the Norfolk &
Suffolk Trust. Jacqueline would welcome any contact from collegue

Hugh Hawkins (South East Region)
After a
long career in the Probation Service mainly as an SPO in field
teams and prisons, Hugh is currently a team manager in the Medway
Youth Offending Team with responsibility for prevention, final
warnings and referral orders. Hugh has a particular interest in
Restorative Justice and is the Chair of his local mediation scheme.
Hugh has been a past National Secretary and National Chair of the
PMA and negotiated with the then EETPU to secure our location
within a large union structure and to ensure that the name of the
association was changed from NASPO
John Briscoe (West Midlands Region)
An SPO
within Community Punishment John has many years of experience
within this specialism. He is based at the Birmingham Sparkbrook
office.
