Unite executive council election 2011
The Unite executive council will hold office from 1 May 2011 to
30 April 2014 and the full list of members is listed on the
following page: Unite executive council
members.
The June 2011 Rules Conference amended the rules to allow for
national representation on the Executive for Disabled and Lesbian,
Gay, Bisexual or Transgender (LGBT) members. Accordingly, it
is necessary to hold a ballot to elect two new members of the Unite
Executive Council who shall hold office until 30 April
2014.
Declaration of result:
Sean McGovern was the sole nominee for the Disabled Members'
seat and is therefore declared elected.
The following is an extract from the Independent Scrutineers
report of the result of the election for the LGBT seat:
Number of eligible voters: 1,200,467
Total number of votes cast: 62,665
Turnout: 5.2 per cent
Number of votes found to be invalid: 3,445
Total number of valid votes to be counted: 59,220
Result (1 to elect)

Harry McAnulty is therefore declared elected.
