Unite Councillors Network
The Unite Councillors’ Network is open to
union members who are current Labour councillors, candidates or who
have an interest in local government. It is a combination of
meetings and events held across the UK and the web site pages.
These provide opportunities for dialogue on what’s happening in
local government and what we’d like to see happen (or not!).
Unite is affiliated to the Labour Party and,
as such, only provides support to Labour councillors and Labour
candidates.
The network is also about how the union can
help members who want to be Labour councillors find out more about
the campaigning and selection process, what help is available from
the union and some useful background on what to expect when on the
council.
These web pages cover some basic policy
positions on local government related issues as well as campaigns
and key people within the union’s structures.
