Inernational Trade Unions
The International Department is
responsible for co-ordinating the activities of Unite within
the international trade union structures.
The purpose of these Global Union and
European Industry Federations is to bring together trade unions
with members in the same industrial sectors. They provide a key
opportunity for Unite to represent the interests of workers in
sector-focused bodies that take decisions at a European and
Global level.
The European Industry Federations are
important organisations that actively participate and influence
European Union policy and legislation. They are often able to deal
effectively with issues and topics that are directly associated
with particular sectors through sector social dialogues. The
Federations' structures also offer workers who are employed wtihin
the same multinational to work together.
