Unite welcomes national skills academy for railway
engineering
17th March 2010
Unite has welcomed the announcement made today (17th March) by
Lord Mandelson of the creation of a National Skills Academy for
Railway Engineering.
Bob Rixham, Unite national officer for Railways said: "This is
tremendous news for railway engineering. The NSARE will provide a
gateway into the rail industry for young people and will drive up
standards in rail engineering. Unite has backed the academy
financially, however the industry owes a great deal to the
commitment and enthusiasm of Pete Waterman who is the driving force
behind this much needed initiative."
