Unite condemns out-of-touch Tory MP John Redwood for
'gloomy' comments
10 February 2012
Unite, Britain's biggest union, has accused John Redwood MP
being 'out-of- touch' for telling the people of the North East to
stop being so gloomy about the cuts (see notes to editors).
Former Tory cabinet minister John Redwood made the claims in
Parliament as the government defended multi-million pound cuts in
the North East. Unemployment in the North East is 12 per
cent.
Karen Reay, Unite regional secretary for the North East
said:"John Redwood must be living in a different universe. The
North East is bearing the brunt of the government's cuts. The every
day concerns and pressures ordinary people have are clearly alien
to Mr Redwood. Like most Tories he is clearly completely
out-of-touch and does not understand the pain his party is
causing."
