Unite to broadcast Labour leadership hustings live via the
web

On Saturday, 17 July at 10.00am at the TUC, Unite, Britain's
biggest union, will hold a hustings meeting for the Labour
leadership contest which will be broadcast live on the Unite
website www.unitetheunion.org.
Diane Abbott, Ed Balls, Andy Burnham, David Miliband and Ed
Miliband will all be answering questions put by Unite members with
Kevin Maguire, associate editor of the Daily Mirror, chairing the
proceedings.
Unite members who pay the union's political levy will have an
opportunity to cast a vote for which candidate will fulfil the
leader's role. Unite is urging its members to take part in the
ballot when it takes place in September. Unite's executive council
will meet on Monday 26 July to determine which of the candidates
the union recommends.
The hustings is for Unite members but members of the media
wishing to attend the hustings can apply to attend by contacting
the numbers below.
