Unite response to BA request to resume talks through ACAS
1st July 2009
In response to British Airway's request that talks with the
airline's unions over its cost-cutting proposals, the joint unions
at BA, Unite and the GMB, have said the first step is for the
company and the unions to agree that it is now time to seek
arbitration.
Steve Turner, Unite national official for civil aviation, said:
"We are happy to discuss a way forward with the company on these
issues at any time, but there has been no discussion yet with us
about reconvening talks through the conciliation service ACAS.
"As BA will know, the decision to work through ACAS has to be
mutually agreed by both parties. We look forward to that
discussion now taking place between the company and the joint
unions."
