Unite achieve recognition at LNWR
16 June 2009
Unite, the UK’s biggest union, has today (Tuesday) announced the
successful result of a ballot for trade union recognition on behalf
of Unite members employed at the Crewe based train maintenance
company, London and North West Railway (LNWR)
Over 70% of members voted in favour of union recognition for
Unite.
Arthur Emanuel, Unite regional officer, who welcomed the
decision said: "Unite members at LNWR must be congratulated for
remaining steadfast in the face of tactics used by the company
which included the use of ‘union busters’.
“We now invite LNWR to reach a voluntary recognition agreement
and look forward to a long and successful negotiating relationship
with the company.”
