Finance staff prepare for strike action at Capita
6th July 2009
Finance workers at Capita in Glasgow are preparing to take
strike action on Friday 10th July in a dispute over pay.
Unite members are angry that Capita has refused them a fair pay
rise despite an 18 per cent increase in profits within the
company.
Rob MacGregor, Unite national officer, said: “Capita staff have
worked hard to give the company another financially successful
year, yet their employer refuses to share this success with the
staff.
“Unite is demanding that Capita wake up and smell the coffee,
staff deserve a fair pay rise. Capita’s greed will force staff to
go on strike.
“Unite members will be going on strike this Friday (10th July)
to demonstrate their anger at the low pay deal being offered to
them. Staff in the Bothwell Street site will not accept at 1.5 per
cent pay offer when Capita has given its shareholders a 20 per cent
dividend this year.”
Staff will have a picket line outside the entrance to the
Bothwell Street office on Friday 10th July from 8am.
The employees will be handing out leaflets to the public to
outline why they have been forced to take strike action. They will
be wearing stickers stating: “Capita play fair on pay”.
