Unite, the UK’s largest trade union, is demanding that the Financial Services Authority (FSA) discard their ‘laissez faire’ approach in 2009. The union has sent the FSA a list of New Year’s resolutions to ensure that in the coming year it does not repeat its mistakes of 2008.

Unite, Scotland's biggest union, has agreed to suspend industrial action at Scottish Water. The action planned for today, Wednesday 24th December 2008 and involving some 2,200 workers concerned a dispute over an imposed pay settlement for the coming year. Unite has agreed, along with the GMB and Unison, to suspend the action which was scheduled to run until 5th January 2009, to allow members to vote on an improved pay offer amounting to 7.75 percent over 27 months.
