Unite’s fourth policy making conference – Brighton, 11-15 July 2016

Members of the media are cordially invited to attend the fourth biennial policy conference of Unite, the UK’s largest union.

Unite has spearheaded the case against economic austerity and social injustice, most notably, recently exposing the Dickensian working practices at Mike Ashley’s fiefdom, Sports Direct.

The Unite policy conference meets every other year. This is when Unite members, nominated by their fellow members, are brought together to agree the policy of the union. Unite is Britain and Ireland’s largest trade union with over 1.4 million members working across all sectors of the economy

Issues for debate will include defence, manufacturing, energy policy, proposals for a basic income and the Conservative government’s enduring attacks on working people. 

There will also be consideration of the UK’s place in the European Union following the referendum on 23 June.
Leading figures from the trade union and political world will speak throughout the week.
