Unite appoints a new professional officer for education and training

10 December 2012

Unite has appointed Ethel Rodrigues as the new professional officer to give a sharper focus to meeting the training and educational needs of its 100,000 health service members.

Ethel Rodrigues, who has more than 20 years experience as a nurse and health visitor in the NHS, started work with Unite this month.

Ethel Rodrigues said: “I am looking forward to developing and exploring new ways of delivering education, so that our members gain the fullest access to the training and education opportunities necessary to further their careers and support them in the workplace.

“The internet and social media have thrown up new challenges in delivering such educational packages.”

Unite’s lead professional officer Obi Amadi said: “We are delighted that Ethel has joined our team. The wide range of skills she will bring to the team will complement and build on the services we continue to develop for our members.”

Ethel, who has a law degree, previously worked for Medway Community Healthcare and has had extensive experience as a health visitor and nurse in south east London.
