Unite shop stewards at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) gave their backing today (Thursday 3 November) to what is being billed as an ‘exceptional pay deal, for an exceptional workforce’.
The two-year deal of 3.5 per cent, plus a £750 bonus in year one; and an inflation proofed retail price index (RPI) plus 0.5 per cent rise in year two, will be put to over 22,000 Unite members in a consultative ballot with a strong recommendation to accept.
The ballot of members over the deal, which would be backdated to 1 November this year, will take place in JLR workplaces in Castle Bromwich, Coventry, Halewood, Solihull and Wolverhampton, closing on Friday 25 November.
Unite national officer Roger Maddison said: “This is an exceptional pay deal for an exceptional workforce recognising their skills and continued hard work in making JLR a world-beating carmaker.
“Many of the workers, who will enjoy this industry leading pay deal, made huge sacrifices through the tough times endured by JLR a number of years ago.
“It is only right that they now share in Jaguar Land Rover’s continued success. Unite strongly recommends that members back their shop stewards’ unanimous decision to accept the pay deal.”
