Unite offers the hand of solidarity in the wake of the Pakistan school massacre

17 December 2014

Expressing outrage over the Pakistan school massacre, Britain’s largest union Unite offered the hand of solidarity to the Pakistani people and the country’s teaching unions today (Wednesday 17 December).

As Pakistan entered three days of mourning, Len McCluskey, Unite general secretary, said: “Our thoughts are with the Pakistani people and those who lost loved ones in this unspeakable act of barbarism.

“No matter where you are in the world, school should be a place of safety and learning, instead the Taliban chose to turn it into a place of horror.

“We offer the hand of friendship and solidarity to Pakistan, its teaching unions and the Pakistani community here in the UK, both now and in the coming weeks when the glare of the media has passed.”
