Unite, the country’s largest union, today (Wednesday 24 September) gave a cautious welcome to the prospect of the takeover of troubled Monarch Airlines by investment firm Greybull Capital.
Unite national officer for civil air transport Oliver Richardson said: “We are pleased that the immediate future of the company has been secured. Now our priority is the welfare and longer term job security of our members.
“We will be seeking assurances and commitments from the new investors and company regarding future business plans and any impact they might have on our members.”
Unite has more than 1,000 members working for Monarch in engineering and cabin crew roles.
