London’s NHS at the crossroads - launch of landmark report on 20 March

10 March 2014

Unite calling note for London and health journalists

The media is warmly invited to the launch of: London’s NHS at the crossroads

A landmark report highlighting the confusion, chaos and financial crisis that have engulfed London's NHS services in the wake of the government's accelerating privatisation programme.

WHEN: Thursday 20 March, 2014 from 10.00 to 12.30
WHERE Committee Room 5, House of Commons SW1A 0AA

The report is result of a London wide inquiry, including seven public hearings, held between October and December 2013. The inquiry’s panel included distinguished experts with decades of experience of observing the changes in the NHS.

The members of the panel, who will be at the launch, include health policy analyst and commentator Roy Lilley and The Guardian’s  political and social commentator Polly Toynbee.

The report was written by Dr John Lister, who has almost 30 years’ experience of campaigning in London against NHS cutbacks and is currently information director of pressure group London Health Emergency.

The inquiry was funded by Unite, the country’s largest union with 100,000 members working in the health service.

If you would like to attend the launch as a member of the media or interested stakeholder organisation, please email Unite senior communications officer, Shaun Noble and/or Chantal Chegrinec, Unite NHS campaigns communications officer.
