Unite, Britain’s biggest union, has secured a recognition deal for up to 400 workers at Polestar printing company in Bicester meaning the union now represents workers across the entire company at sites across the UK.
The deal means that Unite is now the recognised union which negotiates pay and conditions for workers across all Polestar’s seven operations across the UK. The deal at the Bicester site, which prints magazines, brochures and catalogues, was struck following a 12 month campaign and included assistance from the conciliation service Acas.
Unite national officer Paul Finegan said: “Unite has now secured a full house for recognition deals across the Polestar group. This is great news for the workforce who will benefit from Britain’s biggest union being on their side. The union representatives on site have done a fantastic job and put in a lot of hard work to make this deal happen.
“We now look forward to a positive and constructive relationship with management going forward. Polestar Bicester has recently received investment in leading-edge technology and we hope that the site goes from strength to strength.”
