A new law on Corporate Manslaughter came into effect in the UK on 6 April 2008. This introduced a new offence for prosecuting companies and other organisations where there has been a gross failing, throughout the organisation, in the management of health and safety with fatal consequences. The Ministry of Justice has produced an introduction to the Act (pdf, 162KB)pdf and detailed guidance on the introduction of the Act (pdf, 184KB)pdf. The Centre for Corporate Accountability has produced its own guidance, which can be found here.
