Unite Wales & the Welsh government

Unite recognises that we are fortunate in Wales to have a government and political leadership that takes a different approach to that of the UK government in London. There is a different way in Wales – a way we are able to work alongside to invest in decent jobs through positive industrial policies.

We have proper social partnership in Wales which results in a constructive and meaningful relationship between government, trade unions and other partners – even if we don’t always agree on everything. As part of this, Welsh trade unions are represented on the Workforce Partnership Council and the Council for Economic Renewal.

More, however, can always be done and Unite is committed to ensuring that the Welsh government is a government that does the best for Welsh workers. We continue to work with government where appropriate and also lobby government with our own proposals and on issues that are important to our members.
