Unite today welcomed the decision by Rhondda Cynon Taff Local Authority to introduce a living wage for all its employees.
Unite full time official Alan McCarthy commented:
“Unite is delighted that RCT are to introduce the living wage on a phased approach from the 1st October this year. Our Union has been campaigning hard for a number of years for the living wage to be brought in to tackle in work poverty. RCT are one of the largest councils in Wales, their decision to agree to pay their lowest paid staff a living wage is commendable and hopefully will encourage other public sector employers to follow suit.”
