Unite the union today welcomed the official handover to Aston Martin of the three Ministry of Defence 'super hangars' in St Athan. The facility will be used to manufacture the new Aston Martin DBX model from 2020.

“Unite is delighted to see the official handover of the MOD facilities at St Athan to Aston Martin. The Welsh Government has worked tirelessly to secure this landmark investment in Wales. Carwyn Jones’ announcement that Aston Martin contracts will be advertised on the Welsh Government's procurement portal is testament to his administration’s determination to ensure that businesses right across our country benefit from the companies historic decision to locate in Wales.
"This is great news for the Welsh economy and for the thousands of people across the area that will gain employment, either directly with Aston Martin or indirectly through the automotive supply chain.
"Aston Martin are a responsible employer with a history of creating well paid, secure jobs. Through the recognition agreement Unite has signed with Aston Martin we are looking forward to working with the company to ensure that this facility is a huge success in the decades to come.”
