Pride Cymru is Wales' national pride event, taking place in Cardiff on Saturday 13th August.
Once again, Unite will be marching in the parade to celebrate the LGBT community, and the contribution the Labour movement has made to LGBT equality over many years. We will also be supporting the Unite LGBT Taking Pride in British Steel campaign, which has seen our LGBT steel workers joining Pride events up and down the UK calling on support from the LGBT community for their industry in a time of crisis.
You don’t have to be LGBT to join us on the day, just someone who believes in an inclusive Wales and wants to tackle homophobia.
Details: Saturday 13th August
Meet at the top of Churchill Way at 10.30am, look for the Unite banner in the trade union section of the march.
The parade will then step off at 11am
Following the parade, Unite Wales are sponsoring the tea tent in the main pride arena. If you're attending the event, do drop in and show your support and have a cuppa.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of some of our branches, we have 35 wristbands available for Unite LGBT members that march with us to also join us in the Pride festival (these would usually cost £12 on the day). If there are any LGBT members in your branch or workplace interested in a wristband please ask them to get in touch with me via email. They will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
We hope to see some of you on 13 August
