Mel Whitter's Unite Wales Equalities Briefing - Ju...

I am sickened as a union officer to be receiving reports form our members in Wales of increased racism being directed at Unite members in our workplaces and communities.

Unite is proud to stand against all forms of discrimination and to challenge employers who seek to divide our workforces by playing worker against worker.

I am asking you to please put the attached poster on your union notice boards. It has basic information about reporting racism at work to union reps and in the community to victim support’s hate crime line.  We have produced this in English, Welsh and Polish to ensure the message gets to as many members as possible.

If you see an increase in racist incidents please can you report this to me, as the Wales Regional Equality Officer, I am co-ordinating the unions efforts in Wales to challenge racism in our workplaces.

Over the coming months we will work with our reps across Wales to challenge division and racism, we know that this is not easy and that there will be difficult times ahead as the UK moves to exit the EU.

Should you require hard copies of this poster then please call the equalities department on 02920 394 521

In solidarity
