Affiliating to trades councils provides an opportunity for branches to ensure that Unite campaigning policies are reflected in local trades council activities. If we don’t play a part in the trades council, we cannot be part of a continually changing process – we cannot criticise if we do not play our part.
The purpose of this exercise is to ensure that branches are properly affiliated to the appropriate trades council. To do this we must ensure that affiliation fees are being paid on behalf of the branch by the region.
Branches can affiliate members to more than one local trades council.
This will be based upon which trades council is local to the member elected as your delegate.
The form must be completed with the delegates name, membership no, full address and which trades council they wish to affiliate to. Affiliation fees are a minimum of £25, £10 per delegate for 3 or more delegates to a maximum of £40 per trades council (these fees are agreed by the regional council and reviewed annually).
There will be a deadline of the second week in January for the forms to be returned to regional office.
Any received after this date will need authorisation from the regional secretary and the regional finance & general purposes committee .
