Unite the union Brass Band

Unite the union in the North East, Yorkshire and Humberside region sponsor a local brass band which was formerly known as the City of Sheffield Brass Band.  Now, called the Unite the Union Brass Band, it's supported by our panel solicitors at Beecham Peacock, Morrish and Co, and Thompsons.

The band is one of the most successful in the region and was formed over 110 years ago.  In 1997 the band famously appeared in the film The Full Monty.

In January 2015 the band were named winners of the 1st section of the Butlins' Mineworkers' National Brass Band Festival which took place in Skegness.  The band came first out of a tough field of competition comprising of 19 bands, including international competition from the Oakland University Brass Band who had traveled from the USA.  The win was the second time the band had been crowned champions of the 1st section, having previously won in 2011.

The contest in Skegness was the first that the band has competed in since the announcement of the three year continuation of the sponsorship agreement with Unite and the band is hoping to emulate this success throughout the contesting season.

We will post information about upcoming performances by the band on this page, but you can find more information about the band on their website.
