Work Capability Assessments (WCAs) are a controversial government policy, they determine whether someone is ‘fit for work’ or not. The government has giving the responsibly for doing these assessments to massive corporations allowing them to earn millions of pounds from disability.
Many terminally ill and heavily disabled people have found themselves called to an assessment or declared ‘fit for work’, with the threat of being sanctioned hanging over their heads.
We’re also protesting against use of sanctions. Sanctions are used by the government contractors to remove people’s benefits, often used irrationally and without justification, leaving families and individuals devastated and without any money.
Due to public pressure, previous government contractor ATOS has pulled out of its contract a year early.
Now we want to see this unworkable policy binned completely.
