Unite supported its members, cleaning staff at Sodexo, in their fight to be paid the London Living Wage. This is another victory in London & Eastern region's wider campaign for members to be paid the London Living Wage.
Our members work as cleaners in the HSBC building in Canary Wharf, the heart of the London’s financial district, in the midst of some of the world’s highest paid bankers. Surrounded by the excesses of the city they have led a brilliant and ultimately successful campaign to be paid a reasonable wage.
Unite officer, Russ Ball stated ‘In the world of high finance where millions are paid in bonuses an increase of 25p per hour may seem small to some but our members have acted bravely in their struggle to be paid a living wage for the hard work they put in every day for the bank.’
