In March 2013 Thompsons Solicitors opened a new office in Norwich, based on the top floor of the Unite building. A joint Unite/Thompsons event was held on 26 March 2013 at the office.
At the event David Thompson, senior partner from Thompsons, made a short speech commenting on Thompsons’ 90 year history of working on behalf of the Labour movement and fighting for workers’ rights, and the firm’s commitment to continue doing so.
Peter Kavanagh, Unite Regional Secretary welcomed the new office and particularly the speed at which it had been opened to enable Thompsons to serve members in the region locally. Jim Kelly, Unite regional chair, commented on the importance of Thompsons’ commitment, not just to individual cases, but politically and internationally.
The event was attended by a number of Thompsons’ staff and the Unite officers and staff based in the Norwich office - Ivan Crane, Steve Harley, Mark Walker, Penny Fisher and Belinda Thorn - together with a number of other Unite officers and activists from the region and Liam Kelly, regional legal & affiliated services coordinator and Andrew Jex, the Union’s finance director.
Thompsons has already given several briefings in the East Anglia area of the region for reps and branches. These have all been well attended and well received and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering first class support to Unite activists.
