This news comes when facility time is being attacked by local authorities elsewhere, such as for Unison reps at Barnet council.
In the London & Eastern region alone, Unite the union has around 1,000 members working in Veolia’s municipal contracts. With such a large and active membership it’s vital that they receive all the support possible and this is welcome news to all those concerned.
Paul Travers, regional officer, said " having negotiated the facility time with the director for Veolia London, I am pleased to see that whilst the company is under increasing pressure to make savings on their municipal contracts, they remain committed to ensuring reasonable industrial relations and that their staff, our members, are represented and supported".
The convenor will support local reps and officers to ensure a cohesive approach is adopted across London and to also ensure the national agreement is abided by all parties.
