A public rally to defend trade unions and to resist austerity takes place on Tuesday 11 February at the Camden Centre in King’s Cross.
Organised by the People's Assembly, the Institute of Employment Rights and the Campaign for Trade Union Freedom, speakers include Unite general secretary Len McCluskey.
As millions of people face falling real wages, part-time or casualised low-paid work and the dismantling of the welfare state, the need for trade union organisation and the right to protest is greater than ever.
The meeting will rally support against Con-Dem policies, and highlight its attacks on working people and trade unions. The government’s inquiry into trade union tactics is yet another sign of its determination to weaken the labour movement and civil liberties.
The full list of speakers features Mark Serwotka of the Public and Commercial Services Union, John Hendy QC of the Institute of Employment Rights/Campaign for Trade Union Freedom, comedian Francesca Martinez and a representative of the transport workers currently opposing closures and cuts on the London Underground.
The rally is at 18:30 on Tuesday 11 February at the Camden Centre, Bidborough Street, London WC1H 9AU.
