PSA - branch structure

There have been significant changes that have affected the PSA since the merger of the unions.  In particular recently the PSA has been transformed into a national branch.

The new arrangements and its benefits to you are explained below, so that you can obtain quicker and more professional service from your continued membership. The regional branch structure is still in place and you are urged to attend any of those regional branch meetings to have your input and get advice if you should need it.

All members are nominally in the WM/7367 West Midlands branch (still retaining your current membership number).

The PSA is attached to the General Engineering, Manufacturing & Servicing (GEMS) sector of Unite and has its own section of the website   where you will find details of PSA contacts, meetings, seminars and other events, and news. Some of this is limited to members and to access this you will need to register on the website. Make sure that we at your national branch have your email address, as most communication will be via email. The national branch will operate like the normal branch administered by its office holders. The national branch delegates committee is composed of not more than two members from each regional sub branch. This in effect is the same as the old executive committee (EC). This committee will be elected for five years with the next election to be in 2015. The current makeup is the same as the old PSA EC. The funds for the branch will be disbursed to the regional sub branches by the national branch, and paid to the PSA from the Unite West Midlands branch.

If you have a dispute contact the office at Stoke on Trent directly. Once you make this contact your call will be confidential and dealt with urgently. Following basic information collection your situation will be assessed by solicitors specialising in your concern. This is one of the recent great improvements made in the service to you. Be aware however, that you must have been a fully paid up member for 4 weeks.

If you have retired from selling you can still enjoy the enhanced benefits of membership, as a retired member of the PSA you are particularly welcome at the regional meetings or seminars for your knowledge and experience.

As you may know our membership is comprised of self employed sales agents. The greater the membership the more pull we have within the organization and the more seminars we can afford to put on. With that in mind how about taking advantage with your selling skills to recruit a new member on your rounds and receive a (love2shop) shopping card worth £25 for each new member introduced. More details here.

If you should have any queries or comments please contact Peter Moss, or your local national branch delegate member, preferably by email.
