Public health policy workshop, Liverpool

Public health policy workshop, Liverpool

Friday 12 July 2013 at 11:00-15:00

Successive governments have paid lip service to public health without committing to the fundamental policy principles which would influence individuals' health over the course of their lives. The need to focus on the gradient in health inequalities and improve disability free life expectancy should be the holy grail for a socialist government. This workshop will consider which previous policies showed promise but were not supported by decision makers and explore what needs to change in order to integrate health and social care

We will discuss:
•    key policies over the life course
•    preventing ill health
•    climate change
•    economic reality
•    health literacy
•    advertising/marketing
•    unintended consequences and perverse initiatives

Funding to attend thise event should come from your local Unite Health branch.
