The Electrical Engineering and Electronics sector covers members working in the manufacture of highly complex equipment. Sector members are employed in the design, production, manufacturing and maintenance of all electrical and associated products, including electrical components, semi-conductors, turbines, electronic goods and domestic appliances.
In addition the sector represents professional engineers across the UK who are either chartered or working towards chartership, and other professionals providing a service to the public.
Unite actively promotes the proper training of members through apprenticeships, up to and including postgraduate level, with a keen eye kept on future needs, so the UK can maintain the skills necessary to continue and grow this area of manufacturing.
Unite members within the sector receive representation on issues that affect them at work, which is designed to ensure that their pay, terms and conditions of employment are kept at the best levels possible, even against competition from low cost countries.
