News from the regions
Across the country grassroots campaigning is really
beginning to take off. Unite members and activists in local
government have started to challenge the Con-Dem government’s slash
and burn economic agenda. Councils are being forced to think twice
about cutting vital services.
In Middlesbrough, on Sunday 5 September, Unite activists
organised a massively successful event to highlight that the
government’s cuts agenda could mean an end to community events such
as the Middlesbrough 10k run.
An excellent example of pro-active organising, the Middlesbrough
teams designed a postcard, t-shirt, petition and factsheet . This
information was used to drive home the campaign message that ‘cuts
kill communities.’
Unite knows similar campaigning activities are happening at
councils across the country and Unite wants you to send in your
stories, a few words explaining the event and pictures to make it
come alive – so why not
share your story.

Don’t forget that PPP campaign resource packs have been sent to all
Unite regions, including the PPP campaign banner pictured above.
Please get in touch with your lead regional
officer.
Unite also wants to thank everyone that that has sent in their
campaigning stories. Unite hopes this information inspires you to
start similar campaigns in your local communities and to posting
more campaigning stories on the PPP campaign website.
