Sign the Unite petition calling on
Southwark PCT to withdraw its redundancy notices to
the eight speech and language therapists and three
speech and language therapy assistants who are facing the risk of
redundancy.
In 2011 - the Year of Speech, Language and Communication Needs -
it is appalling that highly skilled clinical staff - one third of
the existing speech and language therapy department - are losing
their jobs.
This will mean a greatly reduced services for vulnerable
children and their families, and this will mean increased pressure
on the remaining staff.
Early intervention services help to raise educational
achievement and help young people with communication difficulties
to gain the skills needed to access employment, and reduce the
longer term costs to the public of poverty and benefits.
So sign our petition calling on Southwark PCT to withdraw its
threat of redundancy hanging over the heads of the speech and
language therapists and assistants and thank you for helping to
make a difference.
