A message from Unite's joint general secretaries
"Unite is a new union
establishing new traditions and structures relevant to the needs of
our members who are currently experiencing life in the modern
workplace. Unite is dedicated to serving the best interests of its
members and will seek to improve their standard of living and the
quality of their lives though effective relationships with
employers and government.
"Unite has been formed to establish new
methods of communication between members and those that serve them
and also encourages the development of new internal structures that
reflect the diversity of views and experience that exist in the
modern workplace.
"Easy access for members to the democratic
process of the union is also vital to the success of a modern
representative organisation. Unite will encourage and empower
members through industrial sectors and special interest groups that
are capable of reflecting individual aspirations and enhance the
collective strength of workers.
"It is our aim that no voice in Unite
will go unheard and none of our members' aspirations will be
overlooked."
